Hello! I'm Sarah, a photojournalist and communications professional based in Calgary, Alberta, where I have the privilege of working on the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region and the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3. I'm passionate about stories – the ones we tell each other and the ones we tell ourselves.
I thrive on capturing the stories that matter most to you. Whether it's your personal journey, your organization's mission, or a special event, I specialize in crafting compelling narratives that leave no detail behind and always keep the bigger picture in mind.
With a background in photojournalism from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and a degree in professional communications from Royal Roads University, I bring a wealth of experience and a sharp storytelling eye to every project. While at SAIT, I had the pleasure of completing a practicum with The Globe and Mail where I continue to contribute Western Canadian stories as a freelance photojournalist.
Throughout my journey, I've had the privilege of documenting a diverse range of events, from intimate workshops to grand-scale conferences and exhibitions, all brimming with innovation, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities. Capturing the essence of people – those who radiate curiosity, love for life, and deep connections with one another, truly fuels my passion. I specialize in creating portraits and documenting stories that become cherished memories for a lifetime.
If you or your organization have an exciting project in mind that demands vibrant visual storytelling, I'm here to bring your vision to life. Let's collaborate to turn your ideas into captivating realities.
Thank you for visiting my corner of the web.
Warm regards,
Sarah B Groot
